Ever since its inception, the college enjoyed
recognition and admiration from men of eminence at the National and
International level, as is evidenced by the visits of Rabindranath Tagore in
1922, Mahatma Gandhi in 1925. Mahatma Gandhi addressed the teachers and students
of the college and wrote in the visitor's diary of the college that he was "delighted
with ideal situation". The mango sapling planted by Gandhiji still graces
the campus and remains hallowed spot.
The Union Christian College has made signal
contributions over several decades in producing scholars and responsible
citizens in all spheres of life.It has overseen the formative years of eminent
scientists ,bureaucrats,entrepreneurs,spiritual leaders,political
leaders,creative writers,captains of industry and public men.
The college was awarded the R. Sankar award in 2005
for the best private special grade college in the state adjudged by Goverment of
Kerala. The college was accredited at the five star level in 1999 and
reaccredited with B++ level in 2005 by NAAC.
