MCA Programme
In 2001, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
approved the proposal of the College to start the three year Master of Computer
Applications(MCA) Programme. Union Christian college was the first arts and
science college in the state gaining such an approval. The college is affiliated
to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
The Department has highly competent faculty
comprising permanent and visiting teachers. They move beyond the formal
requirement of the syllabus, incorporating the latest developments in the
different areas of the discipline. The teaching faculty constantly update their
skills and knowledge by attending enrichment programmes, refresher courses and
national and regional level seminars and workshops.
Richard M Stallman, the founder and crusader of
Free Software Movement inaugurated the newly built MCA academic block.
The regular academic programme is supplemented by
seminars, workshops, self development and communication sessions and aptitude
reinforcement modules.
The Department has the ideal infrastructure for
quality Computer Applications Programme. 24 hour internet lab, advanced
projection tools and a well stocked and expanding library are some of the key
features.
